Original 1930 USS Pittsburgh / Asiatic Fleet scrapbook page, approx. 7.5” x 5.5”, preserved in my family since the sailor returned from service in 1932. This scrapbook has remained in family storage essentially untouched for nearly a century and has never been broken up for the collector market.
Front features an original Tsingtao Camera Craft advertising card, 51 Shantung Road, Tsingtao, identifying the shop as an Eastman Kodak agent, along with a dated Shanghai ticket/stub and period illustration.
Reverse features an original USS Pittsburgh Daily Routine, dated Shanghai, China, Monday, October 27, 1930, outlining preparations for Navy Day visitors, shipboard duties, visitor hours, uniforms, liberty, and other daily operations. Signed in print by P. B. Haines, Commander, U.S. Navy, Executive Officer.
A wonderful piece of original prewar U.S. Navy / Asiatic Fleet history with direct family provenance.
