Original late-1920s Dunhill Unique B petrol pocket lighter in gold-plated brass, decorated with a crisp engine-turned Art Deco wave pattern.
The measurements and construction correspond with documented early Dunhill Unique B pocket lighters.
This example has the early single-wheel straight-arm mechanism: a slender bar ending in a compact cylindrical wick snuffer. It differs from the broad, flat Dunhill-signed arm found on most surviving Unique lighters and represents a particularly interesting early variation for the specialist collector.
The base is marked \"PAT. No. 143752\", and the filler cap is signed \"DUNHILL UNIQUE LIGHTER\".
After many years in storage, the lighter was recently refilled and fitted with a new flint. It worked immediately, sparks strongly and produces a beautiful, steady and even flame, as shown in the photographs. The lift arm operates correctly and the snuffer extinguishes the flame cleanly.
Very good antique condition. Clean and apparently lightly used, with crisp engine turning, a strong gold finish and only minor surface marks and age-related patina.
