**Historical Significance:**This incredibly rare, highly legible two-page handwritten letter captures the fascinating economic domino effect of the catastrophic April 1906 San Francisco Earthquake and Fire. Writing from the Portland office at 24-26 Front Street North, the author details the extreme operational strain caused by the "loss of our S.F. factory by fire." He describes having to put on overalls to pull all-night shifts making syrup because they were down to a single syrup maker. On page two, he highlights how the "S.F. Calamity" caused an overwhelming surge in demand, stating that most Portland wholesale houses are completely "snowed under" and facing a 4-week order backlog. **Condition:**Excellent antique condition. The paper is clean with expected folding creases from mailing.
