1890 Prize Animals and Their Records PERRY DAVIS Invented by Perry Davis in 1840 and patented in 1845, his Pain-Killer was probably the first nationally-advertised American remedy for pain. Widely regarded as the wonder drug of its day, it contained mainly opiates and ethyl alcohol.
