An excellent lot consisting of two rare J. I. Case documents, one personally signed by Jerome Increase Case. J.I. Case autographs are surprisingly rare.. The lot consists of:- An April 3, 1883 Satisfaction of Real Estate Mortgage document signed by J. I. Case as President of the Company and Frank Bull as Secretary. It has a very nice embossed gold gilt seal with Old Abe.- Theoriginal mortgage dated November 11, 1881 to the J. I. Case Threshing Machine Company for $425, secured by 160 acres in Seneca County, Ohio.
The mortgage is 11\" x 17\" and the Satisfaction of Mortgage is 8 1/2\" x 14\". Both have embossed notary public stamps. Both are in very good shape, with typical toning overall from age and some staining. The mortgage has a couple of tiny tears on the folds at top as shown. Both documents are still supple, not brittle, and can be handled without fear. They display really well.
