Original Second Empire French tissue stereoview — the Salle à Manger (state dining room) of the Tuileries Palace, Paris. True tissue construction: the image is printed on translucent tissue, hand-colored from behind, and made to be held to the light — backlit, the room glows gold and the chandeliers blaze with pinpricked light (see backlit photos). Period ink caption on the mount in Spanish: "Comedor. Palacio de Tuillerias. Paris."; the printed series label on the back reads "LES TUILERIES" with the period ink title "No. Salle à Manger."
The Tuileries Palace burned in the Paris Commune of 1871 and was later demolished — this room no longer exists, and views like this were made only in the short Second Empire window before the fire.
Condition — see photos for exact condition: mount with age soil, edge wear, and a vertical split at the upper left margin running to the image edge (shown in the close-up); the tissue itself is intact and the hand-coloring strong.
