🇺🇸 ANTIQUE REMINGTON DUPONT RH-4 — CIRCA 1933–1940 🔥
🦌 Remarkable Honey-Blond Jigged Bone • Exceptionally Full Carbon-Steel Blade• Scuffs and patina are present.
Offered here is an attractive prewar Remington DuPont RH-4 fixed-blade hunting knife dating to circa 1933–1940, measuring approximately 7 1/2 inches overall with a 4-inch carbon-steel blade.
The RH-series came from the latter portion of Remington’s original American cutlery era and represented the company’s line of sturdy, purpose-built fixed-blade hunting knives. The clear RH-4 / REMINGTON / DUPONT markings identify this example with that desirable prewar period.
What really separates this knife is the genuine jigged bone. Both sides have aged into a remarkable blend of honey-blond, golden amber and warm brown, with darker color settled deeply into the jigging and creamy blond bone visible along the high points and edges. The bone is firmly fitted and no cracks are observed.
The approximately 4-inch carbon-steel blade remains exceptionally full, retaining a strong sweeping hunting profile with very little apparent loss from sharpening. The blade does show honest cosmetic wear, including numerous scuffs, scratches and previous cleaning or polishing marks, along with scattered staining and age-related oxidation. While certainly not a pristine blade, its impressive fullness and original profile remain major positives and the photographs clearly document the surface condition.
The knife is solid, tight and very well built throughout, with secure full-tang construction, firmly fitted bone and a tight guard.
Included is the pictured vintage brown leather sheath. Its construction and configuration are consistent with documented period RH-4 sheaths, and both the leather and hardware show substantial natural age. The sheath is unmarked and appears period appropriate; while it may be original to the knife, its originality to this specific RH-4 cannot be conclusively confirmed.
Overall, this is a handsome antique Remington with exceptional old jigged bone, a remarkably full blade, tight construction and plenty of honest character from nearly a century of age and use.
🔍 Please examine all photographs carefully. They are an important part of the description and provide the best representation of the knife’s condition and construction.
