A genuine vintage Vendex 1000 portable suitcase typewriter, originally sold in the Netherlands by Vroom & Dreesmann under the Vendex brand.
The Vendex 1000 is a German-made typewriter based on the Erika 42 design. It combines a compact portable format with a full-size QWERTY keyboard and a very distinctive 1970s appearance.
This example comes as a particularly complete original set, including the original hard carrying case and original Vroom & Dreesmann documentation.

DATE
The machine is best dated to approximately 1973–1974.
The original Dutch Vroom & Dreesmann documentation supplied with the machine includes printing codes from 1973 and 1974, which provides useful period evidence for the dating.
The exact production year cannot be confirmed without accessing the serial number stamped into the base of the machine, so the date is intentionally given as circa 1973–1974.
CONDITION & FUNCTION
The typewriter has been tested and is working.
The keyboard, carriage, paper feed and typing mechanism operate, and the machine produces a clear typed impression.
