Large approximately 34X14” rarely found vintage Budweiser illuminated advertising clock and changeable-letter menu/price board to advertise specials in bars or restaurants likely dating from the late 1960s or 1970s.
The left panel features the classic Budweiser “King of Beers” and Clydesdale team with an analog clock. As a 50+ year old sign having seen much use there are some expected slight scratches but nonetheless shows extremely well. The clock is working with no audible noise and keeping good time. See pics of my watch running about 2 minutes ahead over a twenty minute span. The right side has multiple tracks for arranging removable letters. The rails for holding letters shows accumulated detritus which I did not attempt to clean. The molded faux-wood frame has a small chip and one 1” crack both on the back but is in overall very good condition has decorative wheat and floral detailing. I have included closeups of both.
The internal fluorescent illumination has been tested and works, as does the pull switch as shown in the photographs. The removable letters currently shown are included. Please examine the photographs carefully for cosmetic wear, discoloration and other signs of age and commercial use. Also note, there would have been a key that users could use to reset the clock now long gone. I found a website where I discovered a pencil eraser cap fits perfectly and serves the same function. This is a substantial original advertising display that would make an excellent addition to a home bar, restaurant, brewery, game room or breweriana collection.
Because of its size, weight and potentially brittle vintage components, extra padding will be used or local pickup can be arranged.
