Vintage United States Navy Shore Patrol equipment set featuring an SP armband, white web duty belt, baton holder and US-marked wooden nightstick.
Included:
• Black wool/felt Shore Patrol armband with applied gold “SP” letters
• Adjustable white woven web duty belt with metal hardware
• Attached fabric baton/nightstick holder
• Approximately 22-inch black-painted wooden nightstick marked “US” on the end of the handle
This is an appealing assembled group of naval law-enforcement memorabilia suitable for a military collection, historical display or uniform exhibit. Shore Patrol personnel were assigned to help maintain order and assist Navy personnel while ashore.
Exact production period is unknown. The components have characteristics commonly associated with WWII through postwar/Korean War-era Shore Patrol equipment, but no manufacturer or dated contract markings were located.
Vintage used condition with substantial age and service wear. The black finish on the nightstick has considerable loss, scratches and exposed wood. The white belt shows discoloration, stains and general handling wear. The SP armband has several moth holes, fabric loss, wear and staining, particularly to the gold lettering. Metal fittings show age-related tarnish and discoloration.
