Original government-issued signs from the Department of Defense. My grandfather who worked for the state for 50 years until retirement kept these in the original boxes. They've never been hung, but have gone through a few moves so each sign may show slight signs of wear. Each sign will be inspected for damage, and cleaned before shipping. Due to the nature of the powder paint and material they used, the sign may feel dusty to the touch even when it is not.
*** PLEASE BE AWARE the item you are purchasing is VINTAGE & ORIGINAL, NOT reproduced. While they are in excellent condition, there may be slight signs of wear (markings from storage/government handling). That being said, this is the listing for PRISTINE, BEST CONDITION SIGNS. As manufactured, there are 4 holes in each sign so they are ready to hang on your wall. The text on the bottom reads "DOD FS NO. 2 (NOT TO BE REPRODUCED OR USED WITHOUT DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE PERMISSION)". The sign is reflective which can be seen in the image in the listing with flash on. The edges of the metal sign are very, very sharp so please handle with care.
*The original box stating "SIGNS PRODUCED AFTER JULY 5, 1962" is not included in the purchase and is displayed in the listing only for authentication purposes. This listing includes one Fallout Shelter sign, and occasionally the original tissue paper slip that was used to protect it.
Shipped in a cardboard box to protect the sign from being bent or scratched. The corners will be taped to minimize risk of injury during handling. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions, concerns, or further requests.
