What does that mean?
Signs with small imperfections: deemed an "imperfection" when noticeable once hung on the wall. These signs are still in great condition, and none of them are in bad shape - it is just the slightly defected ones with small blemishes such as:
- Paint runs
- Off center borders
- Nicks in the paint
- Scratches on the sign
- Wear from ageThey still looking amazing and are authentic. These are just the signs I had that were either manufactured with defects or were scratched during a move, or have age marks.

Original government-issued signs from the Department of Defense. My grandfather who worked for the government for 50 years until retirement kept these in the original boxes. They've never been hung, but have gone through a few moves so each sign may show slight signs of wear. Each sign will be inspected for damage, and cleaned before shipping. Due to the nature of the powder paint and material they used, the sign may feel dusty to the touch even when it is not.*** PLEASE BE AWARE the item you are purchasing is VINTAGE & ORIGINAL, NOT reproduced. While they are in excellent condition, there may be slight signs of wear (markings from storage), since they have had to endure several moves plus government handling.As manufactured, there are 4 holes in each sign so they are ready to hang on your wall. The text on the bottom reads "DOD FS NO. 2 (NOT TO BE REPRODUCED OR USED WITHOUT DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE PERMISSION)". The sign is reflective which can be seen in the image in the listing with flash on. The edges of the metal sign are very, very sharp so please handle with care.
*The original box stating "SIGNS PRODUCED AFTER JULY 5, 1962" is not included in the purchase and is displayed in the listing only for authentication purposes. This listing includes one Fallout Shelter sign, and occasionally the original tissue paper slip that was used to protect it.
