Striking vintage Italian ceramic covered jar attributed to Aldo Londi for Bitossi, featuring the finely incised Seta-style decoration associated with Bitossi’s mid-century production.
The cylindrical jar is finished in white with hand-incised vertical lines, small impressed details and metallic-gold horizontal bands. It retains its original coordinating fitted lid.
Approxmiate Measurements:
11" tall with Lid
5" across at the base
Vintage condition with age-related wear. There is a small chip with glaze loss on the gold knob of the lid, along with rubbing, scratches and areas of wear to the metallic-gold finish. The interior bottom has yellow/green discoloration or residue. Additional minor surface wear is present throughout. No cracks or repairs observed.
The underside has handwritten inventory or production numbers and remnants of an old paper label. The remaining marks do not clearly identify the manufacturer, so the piece is being conservatively described as attributed to Aldo Londi for Bitossi based on its form, materials and characteristic Seta-style decoration.
Please examine all photographs closely, as they are an important part of the condition description.
A beautiful statement piece for a mid-century modern, Hollywood Regency or vintage Italian pottery collection.
The lid will be wrapped separately, and the entire piece will be carefully packed for shipment.
