This is an amazing bedspread measuring approximately 85” X 58” not including the approximate 5” fringe on three sides. It is a gorgeous classic 3D rose crochet. Handmade with fine crochet thread. It is constructed using mid-century granny square techniques. The design features textured raised rosettes alternating diamond motifs, finished with a heavy knotted fringe border.
This was made by my great aunts that got together almost every Sunday after mass and would work on it. This was during the mid to late 1950’s. It took them just over a year to complete. I have had it stored for years, it is time to let someone appreciate the time and effort into making this beautiful spread.This did fit on my twin bed, (at my Grandmother’s house), when I was a child.Even though it is close to 70 years old, it is in excellent condition, I see no stains, no holes, no broken threads, just the white color has aged.
