Beautiful vintage Chinese blue and white porcelain fishbowl planter or jardinière featuring an intricate allover floral and scrolling vine design. A large stylized blossom centers the composition, framed by dense foliate decoration and contrasting geometric and scrolling borders at the upper and lower portions.
The substantial rounded form is finished with a wide rolled rim decorated in coordinating cobalt blue. Fine horizontal throwing and finishing lines are visible beneath the glaze along the body, adding texture and character consistent with traditional ceramic production. The underside is unglazed and displays concentric wheel marks.
A striking decorative piece with classic blue-and-white coloring, equally attractive displayed as a planter, cachepot, centerpiece, or standalone decorative vessel.
