Period Dallas Yellow Pages document Stampede at this exact address and phone number from at least 1989/90 through the mid-1990s. Contemporary advertising promoted the club as offering some of Dallas’ “finest country dancing,” along with a large game room and entertainment.
D Magazine featured Stampede in its 1992 “Ultimate Honky Tonk Tour,” describing the North Dallas club as a traditional honky-tonk with country music, pool tables, bars, food and late-night dancing. The club also offered country-dance lessons and contests.
The 214 area code helps date this example to before the Dallas-area 972 split became reflected in Stampede’s advertising; later directories list the same number as [phone removed by ].
