This is an excellent piece of Dallas restaurant history from one of the city’s early and influential sushi restaurants. Sushi on McKinney became part of Dallas dining culture during the 1980s, when sushi was still relatively novel locally. Period D Magazine coverage described the restaurant as an important part of the city’s emerging sushi scene, and later retrospectives credited it with helping turn the sushi bar into a fashionable Dallas social destination.

Period Dallas Yellow Pages document this exact address and phone number in the late 1980s, including 1987/88 and 1989/90 listings. The restaurant was advertising sushi, tempura, teriyaki and “A Taste of Modern Tokyo” during this period.
