Up for sale is an authentic, all-original Mid-Century Modern table lamp by the C.N. Burman Co. (Paterson, NJ). The base features a clear maker stamp: "© C.N. BURMAN C.O. 66" dating this beautiful design to 1966.
Design & Finish: Features a striking, heavily textured "Fat Lava" volcanic drip glaze in vibrant burnt orange over a dark brown background. The neck and pedestal feature an intentional ceramic "faux wood grain" paint technique to capture the iconic 1960s Danish Modern look.
Dimensions: Approximately 36" total height to the top of the shade; base width is approx. 6”. Shade is 19” tall x 14” round.
Condition (Base): Excellent vintage condition. Tested and works perfectly. No chips or structural cracks to the pottery body. Some paint loss under neck from age as can be expected as seen in pics.
Condition (Shade): Includes the highly sought-after period style tall towering drum shade with gold-threaded grayish satin crown trim. The shade exhibits vintage amber age spotting and a minor surface smudge (see photos). It is structurally rigid and an excellent candidate for a dry art-conservation/smoke sponge cleaning by the new owner to restore its bright mid-century glow.
