VINTAGE 1950s EXCLUSIVELY NORCREST BLUEBERRY PIE KEEPER
A wonderfully whimsical and highly decorative vintage Norcrest ceramic blueberry pie keeper, dating to the late 1950s and bearing the desirable “Exclusively Norcrest” backstamp to the underside.
This substantial two-piece covered serving dish is beautifully modeled to resemble a freshly baked blueberry pie. The domed lid features a warm golden-brown pastry-colored glaze accented with dozens of raised, dimensional cobalt-blue blueberries, molded crust detailing, green leaves, and a sculptural blueberry cluster forming the central handle. The coordinating base has a scalloped crimped edge resembling a traditional pie plate.
Norcrest was a prominent American importer and distributor of decorative ceramics and giftware during the mid-20th century. The Norcrest China Company name was adopted during the 1950s, and the company became particularly associated with colorful and whimsical ceramic wares produced for the American market.
This blueberry pie keeper is a particularly appealing example of that era, combining mid-century kitchen design, figural pottery, novelty food imagery, and decorative ceramic craftsmanship. The blueberry motif appears considerably less frequently on the secondary market than many common fruit and kitchen-themed ceramics, making it an especially attractive piece for collectors of Norcrest, 1950s kitchenware, vintage ceramics, retro décor, cottagecore, farmhouse kitchenware and figural food pottery.
The piece also displays beautifully purely as a decorative object and has exceptional visual presence when viewed from above or from the side.
