Beautiful vintage handmade Log Cabin variation patchwork quilt, dating approximately to the 1930s–1940s.
This wonderful old quilt is constructed from a large assortment of colorful period cotton fabrics, including pastel solids, florals, geometric prints and feedsack-era/dress-print fabrics. The predominantly white ground combined with pink, purple, green, blue, yellow and orange gives it a classic Depression-era appearance.
The quilt is extensively hand quilted, with visible hand stitching throughout. The irregularities, varied fabrics and extensive handwork give this piece an especially appealing American folk-art character.
Condition: This is a heavily worn antique/vintage textile and is being sold in cutter / restoration / distressed condition. There are numerous areas of fabric deterioration and loss, including holes, tears, thinning/shredded fabrics and open areas exposing the batting/interior. The green backing also has a substantial area of fabric loss. Additional general wear, discoloration and age-related imperfections may be present.
Please review all photographs carefully. The damage is significant and is part of the condition of the quilt.
Despite the deterioration, the quilt remains remarkably decorative when displayed and would make an excellent piece for a vintage textile collection, wall/display piece, restoration project, cutter quilt or source of authentic period quilt fragments.
