This is an authentic antique (122 years old) cabinet card photograph of two well-dressed young women in long coats and fancy hats named Tiina (or Fiina) and Emma Ketola 1904 (as handwritten in ink on the cardboard). The photographer is embossed in gilded print on the bottom of the cabinet card and it reads “J. W. Nara Photo. Calumet, Mich,”. I purchased this in a box of old pictures many years ago which seemed to indicate that the people were from northern Minnesota, some from Michigan, Iron Range, Hibbing area (possibly) and many of Finnish or Scandinavian decent. Photographer was John William Nara (1874-1934) a Finnish immigrant who photographed in Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula copper mining region. The two ladies in this photo are holding a decorative chalice/pitcher.
