Any publication claiming to be\"the complete\" anything is just asking for trouble. It\'s pretty hardto compile everything ever done with a single character by a single creator,especially one as prolific as Vaughn Frederic Bodé. But Rip Off Press does anadmirable job with their four-issue anthology,The Complete CheechWizard. There may be a few gaps along the way (and I\'m not the Bodéphile toidentify them), but that doesn\'t diminish the satisfaction of perusing thiscompilation of Bodé\'s most enigmatic character. One of the most influential artists ofthe underground generation, Vaughn Bode is a hero to a generation of graffitiartists. He died at a tragically young age in 1975, and these books collectmost of his entire oeuvre. Schizophrenia is Bode\'s most personal work,including the legendary \"The Man, \" as well as Bode\'s personaldiaries. Junkwaffel Vol. 2 is a collection of Bode\'s science-fiction orientedtales, including several \"Deadbone\" strips from Cavalier, \"TheJunkwaffel Papers, \" and rare material. Cheech Wizard is a two-volume setreprinting the original National Lampoon series, Cheech\'s underground newspaperappearances, and never-before-seen material. Lizard Zen features the rarest andmost obscure of Bode\'s work, including the full-color \"Coco Crow\" anthe very last strips done before his death.

CHEECH WIZARD was an underground comicscharacter created by artist Vaughn Bodé in 1957 when he was only 15 years old!He drew a hat with stars on it with legs sprouting out from beneath theoversized hat and named him after a nearby can of Cheechie Nuts on his kitchentable. He continued drawing strips and multi-page stories through the 1960swhile in college, and many were collected and published as an underground comicby Company and Sons in 1972. From 1972 to 1975 the strips also appeared in_National Lampoon._

Here is Issue #4 of Rip Off Press\'4-issue run of THE COMPLETE CHEECH WIZARD, that reprints 16 of his black andwhite comics, from single panels to the 14-page tale \"The Race to theMoon\". CHEECH WIZARD stars in them all as his usual self - which Bodédescribed as \"foul-mouthed, often drunk or high on drugs, and constantlyon the make.\"
