Very nice non-1st Edition of this Civil War book. Would make a great gift or keep for yourself!

The book is entitled, "Stonewall Jackson and the American Civil War". The book was written by the late Colonel G Henderson.The book was published by Longmans Green and Company in 1927. This is not a first edition set of books, those were put out in 1898.

This item purportedly came from the estate of Loyal Davis whom was the stepfather of Nancy David Reagan, wife of President Ronald Reagan. The Loyal Davis book stamp is affixed on the inside cover of both books.

This set of books is being offered to you at a price below what you would see in a fine book shop or sale house. We can do that by being a dealer in artwork for over 40 years, better controlling our acquisition costs, keeping commission costs low (if applicable). Finally, we don't have the overhead that fine book shops or sale houses have.

Very desirable copy of this classic Civil War set of books issuance. The books have a red cloth hardcover with gold gilt lettering and design. The front and back covers are still attached to the rest of the book at the spine. Some cracking of the seam of the covers on the inside of the front and back.

All the pages of the books are still be there. Some rub to the covers at the edges, front bottom corner pressed in. A number of illustrations and a fold out map on pages throughout the books.

Some light browning of the pages. No foxing or brown spotting. Some soiling in places. The book's pages are all intact, no major tears, missing pages or repairs. Spine shows wear at the edges. Some finish loss along the front and back covers on the outside on open side. The first few blank pages, including the title page are detached from the spine of Volume 1, still with the book. The spine finish is loos from the bound pages on Volume 1, needs some attention. A dedication from one owner to another owner in ink in the front of both books.

Each book is 7-5/8" tall, by 5-1/8" across, by 1-3/8" wide. Volume 1 is 447 pages in length. Volume 2 is 528 pages in length. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. Don’t be shy to make an offer, we are always open to reasonable suggestions.

Of over 900 packages shipped last year, wehad only two items with issues, a 99.8% damage free delivery rate. Keep in mind, we are not shipping soft goods, like shirts orpants. We are shipping vintage/antique items that are fragile and requirespecial care.

We also obtain insurance on any item that was bought for $50or more, and require signature on delivery for items that are valued at over$200. Plus we have to pay the 11.75% ofthe final value and shipping fees that charges.

• Returns are accepted by seller within 30 days of receipt of item where an item is not as described. The Buyer will be assessed a 15% fee of the Item Cost, plus 115% of both Shipping Costs should they decide to return this item for whatever the reason.
