This is an authentic Spanish colonial military cuff button featuring the royal coat of arms of King Charles III of Spain, used throughout New Spain (including modern Texas) during the late 1700s and early 1800s.
This example measures 15.81 mm in diameter, placing it firmly in the cuff-size category used on military coats and official uniforms in colonial garrisons, presidios, and missions.
The button displays the classic four-part shield showing Castile, León, Granada, and Bourbon, surrounded by the radiating sunburst design characteristic of Charles III insignia. Despite age and ground wear, the shield and circle of dot ornamentation remain visible.
