The Red (over a key) Mason\'s Jar Clear Quart jar made by Red KEY Mason. This quart-sized jar is clear with ground lip Mason shoulder seal.
The base has Roman numeral XXV. hard to make out due to haze on base bottom. Includes a zinc lid with milk glass/porcelain liner.Condition: Overall condition is great. There are rough edges/small chips on lip from usage.Listed in Red Book No. 13 The Collector\'s Guide to Old Fruit Jars page 381 #2476 ($60 - $100).A clear quart \"Red Key\" Mason jar with the November 30, 1858 patent date and roman numerals on the base was manufactured in the late 19th or early 20th century.Key Features The \"Red Key\" Mark: The logo features the word \"RED\" embossed directly over a skeleton key symbol on the body of the jar.Patent Date: It displays \"MASON\'S PATENT NOV. 30th 1858,\" honoring John Landis Mason\'s original invention for threaded glass fruit jars.Roman Numerals on Base: The roman numerals (such as XXV or other numbers) on the bottom are mold or maker\'s marks used by the glass factory to track production molds.Clear Glass: Holds one quart.
