The "sticker variant" of the original Battle Arena Toshinden exists because Sony included the game as a free pack-in with early PlayStation 1 console bundles at launch. These early copies were stamped as "Not for Resale" on both the disc and manual.
Because the console bundles were so popular, Sony had excess stock of these "Not for Resale" copies. To push them to retail, they applied physical stickers over the "Not for Resale" text on the packaging, manual, and disc.
