Fantastic vintage Mid-Century Modern Japanese salt and pepper shaker set, designed as a pair of wonderfully weird anthropomorphic Brussels sprout heads.Each shaker features a glossy ceramic face with enormous black eyes, painted lashes, tiny pursed lips, rosy pink cheeks, and a textured leafy green-and-yellow Brussels sprout “cap.” They face one another with slightly different expressions, giving the pair loads of personality.These are a great example of the whimsical postwar Japanese ceramics made for the American export market during the mid-century era.
