The underside bears the circularSIMPSON, HALL, MILLER & CO. QUADRUPLE PLATEmaker's mark, along with#83and the clearly stamped patent date:

One of the most distinctive features is the tall ornate overhead frame with its decorative suspended linkage connecting to the lid.The mechanical action functions properly, and the hinged lid opens and closes as it should.
The box rests on four elaborate pierced scroll and floral feet and features extensive floral decoration around the body and lid.

4 1/4" wide × 4 1/4" deep × 9" tall overall
