This vibrant chrome-era postcard showcases \'The Sky Ride\' at Bridal Veil Falls in Provo Canyon, Utah. The dramatic image captures a sweeping panoramic view looking down the canyon from the upper tramway platform, with a silhouetted figure — identified on the back as Rue L. Clegg, the builder — gazing back down the 1,753-foot cableway. Stratified canyon walls in grey and ochre dominate the left side, while the winding canyon road and autumn-colored foliage fill the valley below. The blue sky and distant mountain ranges complete the stunning composition. Photo credit is given to George McLean, published by Geo. Mc Co. (GMC #21, S-49224). The card back describes this as the steepest aerial tramway in the world at the time, completed in 1962 after fifty years of effort by builder Rue L. Clegg. Visitors enjoyed a three-minute ride up past Bridal Veil Falls to perpendicular ledges 1,250 feet above the canyon floor — a remarkable engineering achievement of the early 1960s. This card was posted on August 14, 1964, with a 4-cent Lincoln stamp affixed and a Provo City, Utah postmark. It is addressed to Miss Fern Swarm of Peoria, Illinois. The handwritten message from \'Fern\' describes a family trip to the mountains, staying at a dude ranch in a rustic cabin with two teenage children, ages 18 and 16 — a charming slice of mid-century American family travel. Condition is Very Good. The postmark impression has transferred lightly onto the front image, and there is minor corner wear from mailing. The colors remain bright and the card is free of tears or significant creasing. A great addition to any Utah, tramway, or Provo Canyon topographical collection.
