In a world explored to its furthest reaches, the only remaining uncharted territory is the great abyss, "The Abyss."
This deep, vast vertical shaft, whose depths are unknown, is home to strange and bizarre creatures, and holds precious relics that modern humanity could never create.
The mysterious nature of "The Abyss" captivated people, driving them to adventure.
Those adventurers who repeatedly challenged the great abyss gradually came to be known as "Delvers."
* Riko, an orphan living in the town of Orth, built on the edge of the Abyss, dreamed of one day becoming a great Delver like her mother and unraveling the mysteries of the Abyss.
One day, after her mother Lyza's White Whistle was discovered, Riko decided to venture deep into the Abyss.
Reg, a robot with amnesia whom Riko found, also decided to go with her to search for his own memories.
* In the fourth layer of the Abyss, Riko suffers from the poison of the ferocious beast, Tamaugachi.
It was Nanachi, a Hollow, who saved Riko.
With Nanachi joining their group, the three continued their adventure towards the fifth layer of the Abyss, where Bondrewd awaited them.
There, they met a girl named Prushka, who had been raised by Bondrewd and knew nothing of the outside world.
She became fascinated by Riko's adventure stories and wished to join them, but was unfortunately used in Bondrewd's experiments.
However, Prushka transformed and became Riko's White Whistle, and the group proceeded to the sixth layer of the Abyss, "The City of No Return."
There, they found the "Village of the Hollows," where the Hollows lived with their own unique values, and Princess Faputa.
The village, liberated by Faputa's "wish," collapsed, and Riko and the others invited Faputa to proceed to the seventh layer of the Abyss.
