RARE 1800's - "Knights of Pythias" sword with scarce folding guard.Pettibone MFG CO. Cincinnati - makers marked on Ricasso in sound condition.The Lyons ? -name on blade.Overall length 38.5" with etching on blade / coat of arms.Story telling blade is very artistic etched throughout on both sides.Wire wrapped sharkskin grip with very slight wiggle in hilt.Slight damage on grip as shown.Damage to wire wrap as shown.Near complete 1800's, scarce fraternity sword with "folding guard." (rarely seen)Folding guard is stuck and has not been cleaned.Soft scabbard with short pull string is 40" long of unknown material.Sword knot is fragile and complete.Rust and scratches pictured are consistent with age.
