Here offered is a terrific gold specimen from the epithermal veins of the Comstock district in Storey County. This specimen was collected by a miner in the Spargo family back in 1909. It was then stashed in an ore bag for nearly hundred years before I bought them. Miners stashing high grade gold and silver specimens is/was the habit of many a miner and I definitely don't complain!
The specimen is covered in hackly masses of gold on all sides of the specimen! Some of the gold, when viewed under a scope, has actual crystal faces with some of the gold occurring as small gold crystals!! There is an unusual greenish-yellow coating on part of the specimen that might be pyromorphite.
