Authentic vintage advertising ashtray from the historic Hotel Elkhart, located in downtown Elkhart, IN. Opened originally in 1923, the hotel was a major community hub, making this a wonderful piece of local history and mid-century tobacciana. The ashtray is a smoke gray with green lettering. No chips or cracks. Please view photos. If any questions, please reach out to me.
More historical information: The late Senator Robert F. Kennedy stopped in Elkhart during his major campaign on Thursday, May 2, 1968. A temporary wooden platform was erected directly outside the hotel entrance (see main photo). He was accompanied by his pregnant wife, Ethel Kennedy. Other high profile entertainers who stayed at the Hotel Elkhart are Ed Sullivan and Bob Hope. The hotel has been refurbished and is now a part of the Tapestry Collection by Hilton. Item will be packed with care and plenty of bubble wrap!
