On November 24, 1863, Approximately 1,000 Confederate troops and artillery under General Carter Stevenson on Lookout Mountain faced 10,000 Union troops under General "Fighting Joe" Hooker ascending from the valley below. At 10:00 in the morning a fog covered the top half of the mountain, obscuring the view of the battle from those in the valley below. It was this meteorological phenomena that gave the fighting on Lookout Mountain its poetic nickname, "The Battle Above The Clouds."

It was donated to Boy Scout Troop 2 in Chattanooga, Tennessee and all proceeds will go to the troop.
