We have raised 2 cavalry & 1 infantry company from locals, we ar to march to Winchester , the writer is anxious for the army to "push on and end this war". There is no question of a furlough but we are "tiptop". He misses his darling, . He s sorry her Uncle Berry is not released, having refused to take the oath, andis sorry he will not find her in Brooklyn. He continues the letter the next day and finishes with "give my best to all my friends at "45", and signs "your own Gus." 6pp 8 x 5" lined paper, written in pencil. Edge wear, age stains, Overall VG.
