Brand new 5101 NVRAM, abattery eliminator upgrade for vintage solid-state pinball machines. This replaces the old 5101 CMOS RAM chip, permanently storing high scores and settings without requiring batteries, completely preventing future damage from leaking battery acid. This is "Dual CE" compatible, which means it correctly implements the logic of the two "Chip Enable" lines that some pinball machines use. Tested in house with the famous NEOLOCH IC tester which does hundreds of read-write passes in seconds. Comes with a new machined pin socket, we do not recommend forcing the NVRAM in to a leaf socket. Please note that some OEM boards came with the 5101 soldered to the board and will need to be socketed.
Used in the following systems:
- Bally: Classic / Early Solid State MPU-17, MPU-35, MPU-133(Replaces U8)
- Stern: Classic MPU-100 (Replaces U8), MPU-200 (Requires two, Replaces U8 & U13)
- Williams: Early Electronic / System 3 through System 7(Replaces IC19)
- Gottlieb: System 80 / 80A / and 80B games using 5101 memory(Replaces Z5)
- Zaccaria: Generation 1 machine(Replaces IC7)
Also used in some video games like Williams Defender and Omega Race. Note that while the Gottlieb System 1 MPU uses a 5101, this NVRAM is not compatible. Also note it has been reported that using in Meteor sometimes results in sound problems.
