This is much more than just a nice tea set, this is a fabulous antique Noritake/Morimura Brothers child's dinner set with tea cups. It was purchased by my grandmother in the early 1920's and has been carefully stored and played with by many, young and old, over the last century. Over the years, amazingly, the set has survived countless dinner and tea parties hosted by little ones with tiny hands and proud smiles without cracks or chips. The colorful hand-painted floral work, the gold rims, and the turquoise fish-scale lattice all still look wonderful. One fateful "oops" happened a few decades ago when a single teacup smashed to the ground (with many tears involved), but other than that, the set is complete. The gravy boat is a big bonus! It is rare to find one intact for this kind of set.
The hallmark on the back with the red M in the middle of the wreath verifies the purchase date and the Morimura connection, the founders of Noritake porcelain. Minor manufacturing anomalies, light wear to the gold trim, and minor paint variations exist due to them being hand-painted and the fact that they are over 100 years old.
