Up for sale is this hard carved ebony wood statue.
From the Tanganyika area of Tanzania. This carving was purchased as part of an art collection that we were able to acquire. This collector focused on antique art/folk art and had been collecting since the 1050’s. This carving is known as “Makonde Man” or “Binadamu” and is depicted smoking a pipe. This beautifully detailed carving stands just shy of 6” high. No damage that I can see, and has a nice heft to it. Excellent condition.
