For sale is a wonderful piece of British writing history, an antique National Security Lever-Fill Fountain Pen dating roughly from the 1920s
National Security was a prominent "house brand" marketed by British Carbon Papers Ltd., a major office stationery supply company based in London.
British Carbon Papers did not own manufacturing facilities. Instead, they outsourced production to top-tier British pen makers of the era. The clean design, classic ball-ended clip, and overall geometry of this pen point heavily toward production by Conway Stewart or Lang Pens
This pen features a beautiful Black Chased Hard Rubber (BCHR) body decorated with a crisp, classic herringbone/zig-zag textured pattern.
The barrel imprint reads clearly: "National Security Lever Pen". It features the iconic branded ball-ended pocket clip on the cap.
The ebonite has retained a strong, dark color with [ minimal / some ] light oxidation or wear consistent with age.
Installed is a period-correct, beautiful solid 14CT Gold "Warranted 1st Quality" nib. It has excellent tipping material remaining.
Great vintage condition with no major cracks or deep gouges. Please inspect the high-resolution photos closely for exact surface condition.
The filling lever operates smoothly with good spring tension. Unfortunately the lever is slightly bent but this does not affect its operation.
The pen is being sold as is with a fresh ink sac and ready to write.
