Original 1840 New Hampshire Mutual Fire Insurance Company policy issued to John P. Chellis of Grantham, New Hampshire.
This historic document is dated November 16, 1840 and insures property valued at $920. The policy contains extensive handwritten entries detailing the insured buildings and property, including a dwelling house, barns, sheds, hay, grain, and other structures.
Features an attractive engraved vignette on the front and includes the printed Act of Incorporation and company bylaws on the reverse. Signed by company officers and completed in period ink.
