Rare vertical original antique early 1800's Knoxville Tennessee Boruff ST NE street sign. As an original, regional American piece from the early 19th century, it holds historical significance. I contacted the Curator Of Collections at the East Tennessee Historical Society in Knoxville TN. Working with the archive department she was able to match this sign to historical archived images of sign design within the Knoxville area. A great, unique antique piece for any Tennessee native. Would make a wonderful addition to any collection of heritage from Tennessee's past.
This sign is a part of my personal collection. I purchased it over 25 years ago at the Alameda Antique Fair, across the bay from San Francisco California. Always displayed in a smoke free indoor environment.

Sign is made of heavy solid cast iron. Letters are raised / embossed and painted white and have wonderful original patina with some areas of paint loss & rust. Body of sign is black with areas of rust and paint loss. There is an original hole at top and bottom for mounting purposes. I have added two small clear adhesive rubber bumpers on back to prevent damage to wall during display. These can easily be removed. Sign is slightly bowed at ends, about .25βat each end when lying face side up on a flat surface.
