The 6th US Cavalry was a notable unit, serving in every major campaign from the Civil War to present day. In 1900 the 6th served in the Boxer Rebellion,with theAllied Expedition to China During the March to Beijing, the 6th Cavalry acted as the expedition's scouting force to protect the column from Chinese attack. The 6th was present the Battle of Peking (Beijing), and joined in on the looting of the city. An Original US Army Report if the Sale of the Last Effects of 6th US Cavalry Trumpeter Fred Corrigan "who died at Tient-Sien China,Sept 6, 1900" at the Camp of the 6th at Yang Tsun, China, and signed at Fort Riley, Kansas Oct 9, 1900 with a long list of his effects including everything from poncho and trousers to gauntlets and tobacco. The 2pp 8 x 13" typed/ ink Report is signed a month later at Fort Riley by Lt Colonel TJ Wint, and by 3 other officers of the 6th incl Lt John W Furlong, at also by Lts John T Nance and Herbert A White, and signed by 6th Cavalry Officers incl Lt Col TJ Wint as Commanding Officer. Trempeter Fred Corrgan was wounded at Tien Sien (and died in Septmber (Isabella, Michigan Enterprose 31 Aug 1900) Age stains, edge wear, Overall VG.
