Original 1970s working typescript for STAR DREK, a Star Trek parody credited to C. Everett Cooper, accompanied by its printed Newcastle/Borgo Press cover mock-up and original mailing envelope. C. Everett Cooper was a pseudonym used by author, bibliographer and Borgo Press founder Michael Roy Burgess, also known as Robert Reginald. The work appears to be an early version of the story later published by Borgo Press as Up Your Asteroid! A Science Fiction Farce.
The typescript consists of 29 numbered pages and features Capt. Quirk, Mr. Smock and the crew of the Starship Intercourse. It contains numerous handwritten corrections, deletions and editorial changes throughout. At the top of the first page is the handwritten notation “12/7 – To Doug – Your comments would be appreciated – MRB.” “MRB” corresponds to Michael Roy Burgess; “Doug” may refer to Burgess’s longtime publishing collaborator Douglas Menville, although the handwriting and recipient have not been independently authenticated.
Also included is the unused blue printed STAR DREK cover identifying C. Everett Cooper and Newcastle/Borgo Press, with a $1.95 cover price, ISBN 0-87877-200-6 and catalog number B-200. The typescript and accompanying materials show age, handling, annotations and general wear as photographed. Please review all photos closely for contents and condition.
