1909 Antique Photo Harold Reynolds Age 4 Boy Sailor Suit Identified Cabinet Card Description
Wonderful identified antique photograph of a young boy named Harold Reynolds, dating to June 1909.
The pencil inscription on the reverse appears to read:
“Harold Reynolds
June 1909
Age 4 yrs. 3 mon. 17 da.”
Harold is shown at approximately four years old wearing a particularly interesting striped sailor-style outfit with knee pants, dark stockings and boots. His outfit includes a dark diagonal sash or sailor-style trim decorated with stars and chevron-like insignia, along with a wide belted strap at the waist.
He poses with one hand resting on a fabric-covered studio table. The detailed clothing and the fact that the child is identified by full name, month and year, and his age down to the month and day make this an especially appealing piece of early childhood photographic history.
The mount currently measures approximately 7-1/2\" x 6\". It appears that the bottom portion of the original mount was trimmed or cut away at some point, so the original photographer\'s imprint, if one was present there, may have been lost.
A terrific original 1909 identified child portrait, particularly desirable for collectors of antique children\'s photography, sailor clothing, period fashion, genealogy and named cabinet photographs.
Condition
Antique condition with age-related wear. The photograph has some surface marks, spotting and light scratches but retains very good facial and clothing detail. The mount shows edge/corner wear, small losses and soiling. Bottom edge has been trimmed/cut, leaving an uneven edge. Pencil identification and age information are present on the reverse, along with other marks and remnants from a former label or attachment. Please review all photographs closely for condition.
