About This Item

Offered here is an extraordinary piece of rock and roll history: an original 1970 pressing of The Doors' "Morrison Hotel" LP, signed on the front cover by all four members of the band β€” Jim Morrison, Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger, and John Densmore β€” in black ballpoint pen. Each signature has been individually authenticated as genuine.

"Morrison Hotel" was the Doors' fifth studio album, released on February 9, 1970, on Elektra Records. It marked a powerful return to the raw, blues-driven sound that had defined their earliest work. After the heavily orchestrated "Soft Parade," this album stripped things back to pure, gritty rock and roll. The album reached No. 4 on the Billboard 200, was immediately certified gold, and became the band's highest-charting studio album in the UK at No. 12.

The album is presented as a gatefold LP in stereo, manufactured by Pitman Press for Elektra Records. The iconic cover photograph was taken by Henry Diltz at the real Morrison Hotel, a flophouse located at 1246 South Hope Street in downtown Los Angeles. The back cover features the legendary "Hard Rock Cafe" image β€” a real bar at 300 East 5th Street in LA's Skid Row β€” which predates and inspired the famous restaurant chain.

Two of the four Doors are now deceased β€” Jim Morrison passed away in 1971 at just 27 years of age, and Ray Manzarek died in 2013 at 74. With only Krieger and Densmore still living, an album signed by the complete original lineup is an exceptionally rare find. Any item bearing the authentic signature of Jim Morrison commands tremendous value on its own; one signed by all four Doors together is a true collector's grail.

About The Doors

The Doors were formed in Los Angeles in 1965 by UCLA film students Jim Morrison and Ray Manzarek, joined by guitarist Robby Krieger and drummer John Densmore. They signed to Elektra Records in 1966 and released their self-titled debut in January 1967, featuring the No. 1 hit "Light My Fire." Over five years, Morrison and the Doors recorded six studio albums that became cornerstones of rock history. Morrison's poetic lyrics, commanding baritone, and volatile stage presence made the Doors one of the most electrifying and controversial acts of their era.

After Morrison's death in Paris on July 3, 1971, the surviving trio recorded two more albums before disbanding in 1973. The Doors were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993. They have sold over 100 million records worldwide and remain one of the best-selling and most influential rock bands of all time.
